Homemade Silver Cleaner - Natural Silver Cleaner

Homemade silver cleaner and natural silver cleaner need to be quite mild, so that they do not remove the silver plating on various products, if they are not pure silver.

In addition, it has to be able to remove the tarnish which has built up on the silver.

If the silver is excessively tarnished the following recipe may not work, but if you store your silver properly, and rotate it frequently this recipe for silver cleaner should work well.

Cleaning Silver With Baking Soda - Removing Tarnish

Ingredients:

• Baking soda
• Water

Directions:

Step 1: Make a paste with approximately equal amounts of the ingredients.

Step 2: Gently srub the paste on the silver with an old toothbrush or other soft bristled brush, being careful to get in all the small crevices within the silver.

Step 3: Rinse the silver under running water, and then dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.

Please note that this recipe helps remove tarnish from the silver, but after removing the tarnish the silver will still need to be polished, such as with this homemade silver polish.

In A Pinch You Can Use Toothpaste

If you are in a pinch because guests are arriving soon, and there is only a small amount of tarnish you can also try buffing with toothpaste and a damp cloth.
