Homemade Glass Cleaner - No Streak Glass Cleaner

I get asked all the time for a homemade glass cleaner recipe that also serves as a no streak glass cleaner.

The best non-streak glass cleaner recipes contain the ingredient of rubbing alcohol (also known as isopropyl alcohol), because the alcohol evaporates quickly, with the result that the glass cleaner doesn't streak.

Even these recipes below won't completely help with streaks, however, unless you also use the right glass cleaning technique. For more information about that, check out this article about how to clean windows like an expert.

Two Recipes For No Streak Glass Cleaner Containing Rubbing Alcohol

Glass Cleaner With Ammonia And Rubbing Alcohol

  • 1/2 cup ammonia
  • 2 cups rubbing alcohol
  • Optional ingredient: 1 tsp of hand dishwashing liquid
  • 3/4 gallon of water

Hint: Do not add too much dishwashing liquid. Notice the amount suggested is very small. More will not make the solution work better, but will only make your glass cloudy from a soapy film.

Glass Cleaner With Vinegar And Rubbing Alcohol

  • 1/3 cup white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol
  • 3 1/2 cups water
